Reflections on the day in Beijing

Today we went to Forbidden City (huge complex and emperor's palace in Ming & Ting dynasties) and Tienanmen square. Then to a chi-chi restaurant, one of the best in the city, very expensive. Dinner for all four of us was 698Y...about $100! :)

Overall, food and services are very reasonable, but goods are more expensive. Out of curiosity, I checked an iPhone price - was $600 - vs $200 in US. Even on products made here, they pay prices as if they are imports.

Tomorrow we are leaving at 8am for the Great Wall. We'll be there all day. On Tuesday we will go to Silk Market  and Pearl Market, and Tuesday night take overnight train to Shanghai. Weds-Friday there, and Sat a.m. I fly to Beijing to fly home.
