It's a toy designed for babies 6+ months old, so I thought my 18 month
old daughter might enjoy it, at least for a little while. We received
the package from eBeanstalk, delivered promptly after the order,
opened up the nicely branded shipping box and set the toy on the floor to check
out.
Infantino packaging is always eye-catching, and my daughter wanted to
get my hands on the top. I showed her how it worked - press down on
the top "plunger" (Is that the word?!) - and the brightly colored
balls inside spin around.
My daughter gave it a whirl, and walked away. Not the enthusiasm I
expected. HOWEVER, my 3 1/2 year old son liked it immediately, and
couldn't keep his hands off it! Push, push, push...push, push,
push...I really felt he could go on for hours. It's always interesting
to see what toys they like and what doesn't quite hit the target.
Since that night, there's been less interest in it. But that may be a
factor of a mobile baby. I imagine that a six-month-old, especially
one just sitting -- or learning to crawl -- would find it really
interesting.
On a personal note (enough about the kids!) I tend to prefer toys that
DO NOT have annoying electronic sounds. This is a perfect example of a
toy with a lot of motion and color, but no irritating side effects.
Let's avoid toy-induced headaches whenever possible!
So I'd recommend the Spiral Spin Top as a great gift for new sitters and early crawlers. Check out the Spiral Spin Top here and other great toys at Ebeanstalk.
